If you’ve been following the OnePlus 5 leaks in recent weeks, you’d know there were conflicting leaks in the orientation and design of the dual-camera setup on the next smartphone. Now, two more leaks have sprung up on the Internet, and unfortunately, they only serve to add to the already existing confusion.
The first leak, which was posted on the Chinese Weibo microblogging website, shows a supposed promotional image for OnePlus 5 and suggests that the smartphone come with a dual-camera landscape orientation as well as the iPhone 7 Plus. In addition to the guidance, other aspects of the smartphone, including antenna lines, appear similar to previous leaks on OnePlus 5. Remarkably, the phone has been tilted to also include the dual horizontal camera configuration previously in a leak, but is more expected to come with a dual vertical camera setup.
This leads to the second leak. A separate streaming image of the supposed OnePlus 5, also published in Weibo and first detected by the Droid Holic, suggests the same dual-camera vertical setup model that some of the previous leaks suggested with the LED flash in the middle of the two sensors on the back .
As we mentioned at the outset, these two contradictory leaks confirm nothing but create more confusion about the optics in OnePlus 5. However, one thing that has remained constant in all leaks so far is the presence of a dual-camera configuration on the smartphone. Last week the company announced that it partnered with DxO to provide enhanced camera performance on the next major brand smartphone. Although OnePlus has not shared details about the camera’s configuration, it said that it partnered with DxO to “hone your photography experience with your new flagship, OnePlus 5.”
