With the Galaxy Note 7 debacle, Samsung lost much more than just billions of dollars last year. The South Korean giant has spent considerable time and effort in repairing buyers of Galaxy Note 7, correcting its reputation as well as identifying the cause behind the smartphone blasts. And the next Samsung Galaxy S8 is their first big bet to pass the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco.
So it’s no surprise that all eyes were on Samsung Galaxy S8 leaks, much more than for another major smartphone, as 2017 is expected to be the year of rescue for the company. Curious about the Samsung Galaxy S8? Here is everything we know about the Samsung 2017 flagship.
Release date of the Samsung Galaxy S8
While Samsung was expected to be on schedule and launch the Galaxy S8 in February, recent reports indicate a delay due to investigations into the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco as well as major design changes to the Galaxy S8. The smartphone should be launched at MWC this year, but Samsung’s mobile boss Koh Dong-jin has confirmed that the smartphone will not make an appearance at the mobile expo. Instead he told a South Korean publication that the official launch date of the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be announced at its MWC 2017 event. The company is also rumored to show a minute of a Samsung Galaxy S8 teaser at the event in Barcelona.
The most recent date linked to the launch of Samsung Galaxy is March 29, with the rumored release date of April 21. Samsung will launch the Galaxy S8 in a dedicated Unpacked event. The launch date of the Samsung Galaxy S8 in India, however, is not yet known. Whatever the launch date of the Samsung Galaxy S8, the South Korean giant seems to be optimistic that the smartphone has sold well, as it has doubled the number of initial shipments of the device.
Samsung Galaxy S8 price
The price of the Galaxy S8 is still a mystery, but some reports suggest that due to major changes, the smartphone will have a slightly higher price than the Samsung Galaxy S7. Goldman Sachs predicts that the Galaxy S8 will see prices rise by up to 15 to 20 percent compared to its predecessor. Twitter user Ricciolo said that the price of the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be EUR 849 (about Rs. 61,700), while the Galaxy S8 Plus costs EUR 949 (approximately R $ 69,000). The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus prices for Europe are rumored to be EUR 799 and EUR 899. Of course for now, what the Samsung Galaxy S8 price in India will be is not known at this time.
